My mother-in-law and I were never especially close, but we always remained polite. Every few days, we spoke about family matters, my husband Michael, and ordinary life.<\/p>\n
That afternoon seemed completely normal.<\/p>\n
We talked for nearly twenty minutes, shared a few laughs, wished each other well, and said goodbye.<\/p>\n
But when I lowered my phone, I realized the call was still connected.<\/p>\n
