When Arthur first heard that his newborn son had Down syndrome, he expected fear, uncertainty, and countless questions.<\/p>\n
What he never expected was to face those emotions without his wife.<\/p>\n
She barely looked at their baby after the diagnosis. She was overwhelmed and repeatedly said she could not handle what was happening. Arthur believed it was the shock talking and told her they would learn how to manage everything together.<\/p>\n
But two days later, she made a decision he could never understand.<\/p>\n
She filed for divorce, gave up her parental rights, packed a single suitcase, and left.<\/p>\n
Arthur was only thirty, suddenly responsible for a three-day-old baby while trying to understand how his family had fallen apart so quickly.<\/p>\n
